Purchase the external accessory material. When building the protective grille element yourself, you will need M6 x 20 mm hexagon screws. You can obtain these at a hardware store or from a metal goods dealer of your choice.

Select the 2 profile lengths of the frame that are intended for holding the bars. Then precisely mark the points for the drillings at the desired intervals. Drill the holes into one side of the square tubes with an M6 metal drill bit. The holes will later serve for the screw bolts of the threaded plugs in the bars. Make sure that the first holes at the ends of the square tubes have a distance from the tube end of at least the corner connector pin.

Take all 8 grid bars and start by inserting the round tube plugs into the grid tube openings. Firmly tap them in with a rubber mallet- Please use the pre-fabricated tool from the free-to-order construction plan for this. For tapping them in, place the screw of the plug into the bore hole of the tool. Now, with a hammer, strike the round tube from above onto the plug until it sits flush.

The right-angle corner connectors now come into play for connecting the aluminum square tube frame construction. Using a plastic hammer, tap one corner connector into each square tube. When inserting the connectors for the two square tubes with the drillings from step 3, ensure that the still exposed connector pin is on the side of the holes. Please tap one corner connector into each end of a frame profile with perforations.

Now you have assembled all individual sub-assemblies and are starting to put together the overall construction for the protective grille. First, insert 3 frame profiles, 2 without holes and 1 with holes, into each other and tap them in firmly.

Bar Spacing: The spacing of the bars is crucial for safety. This includes not only applications in the private sector but also the use of protective grilles in industrial manufacturing. For the application of safety systems or occupational safety equipment, there are specific legal requirements that must be observed and serve to prevent accidents in private and professional environments.
According to the German Social Accident Insurance BGI 561, clear bar spacing must therefore not exceed a maximum of 12 cm! However, this can vary depending on the area of application.
