Building a rear kitchen yourself is not difficult with ALUSTECK®. The starting situation was a VW T5 Multivan with a foldable rear seat and a rail system. Here you go directly to the instructions. First, we bought the Multiflexboard and a suitable mattress. Only some order was still missing in the trunk of the VW T5 for the space under the board. A rear kitchen module with multiple levels and drawer pull-outs for a gas stove, cool box, and sufficient storage space would be ideal. So, with these building instructions, we realized a kitchen block for the T5 as a DIY self-build, which can also be easily installed and removed repeatedly.

1. Step-by-step guide to building a T5 kitchen unit - Planning
The rear kitchen should naturally fill the entire space under the Multiflexboard – the depth of the kitchen module is also roughly predetermined by the mattress and sleeping area together with the rear bench seat. External dimensions of the rear kitchen suitable for the VW T5 Multivan are therefore width 1210 x height 535 x depth 660 mm. 16mm anthracite panels serve as cladding, suitable for the profiles with 16mm double web. For the drawer fronts and the top insert panel, a thickness of 19mm was chosen.
A compressor cool box and a gas cooker were a must for us for the camper conversion. In addition, the option to simply accommodate a flat Eurobox. The great thing about this rear kitchen is that it expands your VW Multivan Transporter into a full-fledged camper. Thanks to the very stable and load-bearing yet lightweight construction, the module only needs to be fastened with the rail system. This means that all trim parts and your vehicle remain undamaged!

- Bottom left (storage space) approx. W 306 x H 215 mm
- Top middle (Eurobox) approx. W 407 x H 150 mm
- Bottom middle (storage space) approx. W 407 x H 215 mm
- Right (cooler box) approx. W 268 x H 438 mm
There is still some space between the bench seat and the box, which can always be used for additional storage for rarely used or bulky items. In the drawing below, all dimensions for the rear kitchen with storage space are once again entered for better understanding during planning and for the construction of the structure.
2. Assembly of the VW Multivan Rear kitchen with Rear pull-out
When assembling the ALUSTECK® construction for the VW T5 Multivan rear kitchen, it is important to ensure that the connectors are either glued in or later fixed with screws. Especially when loading and unloading the camper box, due to the relatively high weight of the panels, one notices that the simply plugged connections cannot withstand the weight and there is a risk that the plug connectors will come loose.
First, the lower and upper frames of the rear kitchen rack are assembled. Afterwards, the intermediate struts are placed on the lower part. The panels are then slid into the double webs. Now, simply place the upper frame on top like a lid and firmly tap it into place with a rubber mallet. In the final step, the connectors and aluminum profiles are fixed using self-tapping screws.

Install drawers with heavy-duty slides
For the drawer slides, we opted for a ready-made drawer system from Hettich. Of course, you can also resort to a DIY solution here and proceed similarly to our Camping Box Building Instructions (see from step 2). We used the "AvanTech-You" system from Hettich from the specialist store here: https://shop.hettich.com/ .

The rear kitchen's construction is made of aluminium and therefore very light. Assembly is done by simply plugging the parts together.
