First, the side parts of the back element are put together, into which the flower pots can later be hung. For this, firmly drive the connectors into the profiles with a plastic-headed hammer.

Step 2: Connect reverse side elements

The side panels can then be connected using the center struts.

Step 3: Assemble front side elements

After the back panel has been assembled, the side panels are first connected to the front panel, on which the worktop will later be placed and screwed. After the two side panels are connected, the expander connector is driven into the profiles as shown in the picture. This serves for connection with the back panel, as its thread is used for screwing.

Step 4: Connect front side elements

After the two side panels have been assembled, they can be connected using the central strut.

Step 5: Prepare desk back

Tool for this work step:
Cordless drill | 3mm drill bit | 8.5mm drill bit

First, the back element is prepared for connection with the front element. For this, item 1 is first pre-drilled with a 3mm drill bit at a distance of 53.5 mm (from the top edge of the connector to the center of the hole, as shown in the picture). The drill bit is placed in the center of the profile, i.e., at 12.5mm (The profiles have a width of 25mm). The pilot hole serves to allow the necessary drilling with an 8.5mm drill bit to be carried out cleanly and easily.

Step 6: Screw together back and front

After the profile has been drilled, the front element can be attached to the back element and screwed into the expander connector (Pos. 13) using the M8 countersunk screws (Pos. 17).

Caution: The screw should be flush with the profile so that the wooden panel can be easily inserted later.

Step 7: Assemble tabletop

Since the basic construction is now complete, the worktop and the cladding can now be mounted. The cladding is fastened to the webs of the profiles using Spax screws. To be able to screw the Spax screws into the webs, these must be pre-drilled at the corresponding points.

Attention 7.1:  The worktop is additionally fastened at the back with a corner connector. This is fastened with 4 screws. 2 x Spax screws which are screwed into the wood, and 2 x self-tapping screws which are screwed into the web of the aluminum profile.

Step 8: Screw on side panels

Subsequently, the back panel cladding is attached. This can also be recessed into the designated position and is screwed to the web of the aluminum profile. Additionally, the back panel cladding is fastened laterally with a corner connector.

Step 10: Screw in adjustable/leveling feet

Finally, the leveling feet are mounted to optimally align the desk, and the flower boxes are hung.

Tips for planning

Build a mini desk, corner desk, desk with a flower box, desk with a shelf, and many more with ALUSTECK®. There are so many variants of desks, which allow you a wide selection.

With ALUSTECK®, however, you don't have to choose an existing variant, but can plan your very own desk design.

Criteria that help you with planning

Desk also possible with a room-divider back panel.
Desk also possible with a room-divider back panel.
Where should the desk be placed?

Before you start with the concrete planning of the desk, you should know where the desk should be placed. The spatial conditions are crucial for how large the desk can be and what shape it should or must have.

How much space is needed?

The area available for the desk may be limited, but you should still be aware of how much workspace you need on the desk to be able to work properly. You should plan for at least this much space to build your desk.

Do you need storage space?

To plan what your desk should look like, you should know if you need storage space. Because you build your desk yourself with ALUSTECK®, you can install any shelves and compartments you need for your work and documents.

What should your desk look like?

Once you have determined how large your desk should be, as well as what shape it should have, you can determine the design of your desk. Perhaps you want to build a modern and simple desk, one with enough storage space and shelving or an integrated shelf, or even with flower boxes to make it a bit more lively. You can individually implement your wishes and needs with ALUSTECK®.
1.Create a sketch

Now create a detailed sketch of your planned desk and dimension it. Here, consider the area you have determined to be available to you, as well as the required size of the desk.

2. Determine the bill of materials for connectors and profiles

Based on the dimensioned sketch, you can now easily determine which connectors and profiles you need, as well as the dimensions you require for the profiles. You can then add the required items to your shopping cart; these will be cut to your desired dimensions and sent to you.

3. Determine the bill of materials for accessory materials

Finally, you can determine the necessary materials for the worktop, etc. You can process the worktop you desire yourself, or have it cut at a hardware store and, if necessary, have the required cutouts made. The worktop can be attached to the aluminum profiles using self-tapping screws, thus completing the construction.
