Step-by-step guide to building your own photo table
First, consider what exactly you need the table for. Do you have a suitable space for the photo table? Can the table remain fully assembled somewhere? If the table needs to be stored, the big advantage of an ALUSTECK® photo table is definitely that it can be easily folded up to save space. The special PVC connectors are not designed for frequent disassembly. Therefore, the integrated folding mechanism is very advantageous. A mobile photo table is therefore also a very practical solution.

Preliminary considerations, planning and practical tips
What is probably most often underestimated when building a photo table yourself is the necessary size of the shooting table or the required size of the cove. Even a small object to be photographed requires a cove that is much larger than DIN A4 format. For shots with a slight telephoto lens and in a frontal perspective, this might still be sufficient. However, if you want to photograph from different angles and perspectives, you will need sufficient cove around the object.
Another point is the illumination. For this, we at ALUSTECK® have also thought ahead and designed a model that, thanks to the upper outriggers and the vertical struts with special drilled holes in the aluminum profiles, offers many possibilities for attaching reflectors, objects, lighting, or the camera itself. Among other things, the integration of the support feet creates a space below the shooting table to ensure illumination of the cove from below or/and behind when the base plate is removed. Additionally, this provides you with a more comfortable working height and storage space for your utensils and equipment.

1.1. You can easily order the material for the DIY photo table or shooting table construction in individual dimensions and designs in our online shop. The cove and the insert shelf are available as external accessories from a specialist retailer of your choice.
After successfully ordering the products, you will receive everything delivered directly to your home by us, individually configured like a kind of kit
1.2. After you have received your goods, the components such as aluminum square tubes and special connectors are simply put together and then assembled into a stable photo table frame by firmly tapping them with a plastic hammer.
1.3. Now the tabletop shooting table construction for the self-built photo table is almost complete. All that's missing now is a suitable insert shelf and a cove made of thin cardboard or plastic. The integration of a photo box is also possible with this construction.

Photographing Shadow-Free with a Cove or Integrated Photo Box
Since in photography, in addition to correct lighting, the foreground and background also play an important role, a so-called cove or a complete photo box is used. If a background is uneven or shows a horizontal dividing line between the floor and wall, unwanted edges, shadows, and disturbances occur in shots. The cove is therefore always used in professional studio photography when the foreground and background are to merge. The resulting effect makes the object appear to float in space through correct illumination and reduction of shadow effects.

There are various types of lighting such as LED panel lights, daylight studio lights, lights with umbrellas, flashes, or ring lights. The most common type of lighting are continuous light studio lights which perfectly simulate daylight with a color temperature of approx. 5300°K. The TableTop shooting table offers the possibility to screw the light sources directly to the designated drill holes at the top, side, or bottom.
This ensures perfect illumination on set. The use of studio flash units is also possible. The possibilities and range of applications in product photography are diverse with this photo studio, and there are hardly any limits.
