How the assembly of the shelter with aluminum plug-in system works
It is important to determine the correct dimensions for the bin storage box in advance:
In Germany, the dimensions of waste bins are standardized according to DIN EN 840. This makes it easier for us to determine the exact dimensions for the self-built bin enclosure. For the average household, small waste bins (120 liters) or large waste bins (240 liters) are typically used. The following construction plan for the DIY bin storage box refers to 240-liter bins. Should you use the smaller variant, you only need to adjust the dimensions of the aluminum profiles.
The principle remains the same. To ensure sufficient clearance between the bin and the bin box, we add a distance of about two finger widths on all sides of the bin enclosure.
This results in the following dimensions for your bin enclosure:
Width of bin: 577 mm --> Width of box (internal): 650 mm
Depth of bin: 715 mm --> Depth of box (internal): 775 mm
Height of bin: 1062 mm --> Height of box (internal): 1100 mm
Please note! The ALUSTECK® aluminum profiles have a width of 25 mm. This must be taken into account when calculating the external dimensions. If you want to build a bin enclosure for three bins, the width will therefore be 3 x 650 mm (internal dimensions) + 4 x 25 mm (aluminum profiles)=2050 mm (see illustration).
You do not need any special knowledge for the assembly of the high-quality bin enclosure!
The "do-it-yourself" aluminum bin storage is quickly assembled with a lightweight aluminum plug-in system. This way, anyone can easily build the bin storage themselves. Stable corner connectors can be firmly driven into the aluminum square tubes with a plastic hammer. The plug-in system allows for a quick connection of all profiles with each other to form a stable frame or body.

Description using the example of the bin enclosure for 3 bins:
On the left and right are the two outer walls, which always remain, regardless of the number of bins. Only the number of inner partition walls of the DIY bin enclosure – in this case: Two - varies.
This distinction is important, because the outer walls require different aluminum profiles than the inner walls!
Our TIP: To connect the connectors with the profiles, the easiest way is to use a plastic hammer. Additional fixation is not necessary. If required, you can also anchor the body in the ground. This guarantees absolute stability for your DIY wheelie bin storage, no matter how stormy or rainy it is.
Doors and Hatches
Of course, the DIY bin box must be able to open both upwards and forwards. This is achieved with a system of movable doors and flaps that are screwed to the body with hinges. Convenient access to the different bins is guaranteed at all times, and you utilize the full volume of your bins. Neither rain, heat, nor snow can get into the bin box. Therefore, no unpleasant odors arise, and parasites also have no access to the waste.
The cladding
Now you can design the waste bin enclosure entirely according to your ideas and to match your surroundings. Wood-based panels or similar materials are suitable for cladding the box. You can easily have these cut to size at your DIY store or specialist market.
ATTENTION! Should you have changed the dimensions of the construction – for example, for 120-liter bins – remember to recalculate the dimensions of the cladding!
