Fastening Wire Mesh on Aluminum Profiles with a Fastening System

Your benefits:

Attach aviary mesh quickly and easily
No riveting or pre-drilling required
The fastening can be released again later
Aviary mesh is attached securely and firmly
Affordable, robust and reliable

In addition to our special system for connecting the aviary elements we at ALUSTECK® also offer a fastening system for mounting aviary wire on aluminum profiles. In contrast to some other methods, no pre-drilling is required and no special tools such as a rivet gun are necessary. The system uses a self-tapping screw and a clamping ring to fix the wire securely, perfectly, and stably. For processing, a standard cordless drill with the appropriate screw bit can be used.

The advantages of the fastening system are numerous. Attaching the aviary wire becomes quick and easy, as no cumbersome work steps are necessary. Furthermore, the screws can also be loosened again later on your aviary kit if changes or additions need to be made. This offers high flexibility and saves unnecessary effort.

Important Notes Aviary Wire and Quality

The quality of aviary wire plays a crucial role in the construction of a bird cage, especially regarding dimensional accuracy and angularity. With poor quality, strong rippling of the wire surfaces usually occurs, which is visually unappealing and, in the worst case, can lead to small animals like rodents or birds escaping. Additionally, when connecting the aviary wire to the structure, problems with the squareness of the entire aviary construction can arise. This happens particularly with too much tension when stretching the aviary wire.

For these reasons, the specialist and professional uses high-quality aviary wire, which may be slightly more expensive, but ultimately guarantees a good and secure result. The choice of material (galvanized steel, stainless steel, or plastic-coated), as well as the selection of mesh size and material thickness, is ultimately determined by the place of use and the respective animal. A well-stocked specialist dealer also offers various widths, e.g., 600 mm, 800 mm, 1000 mm, 1500 mm, or even a 2000 mm width. For the constructions of the ALUSTECK© aviary system, we recommend a width of 1000 mm.

Which mesh size for which animal

One of the common mesh sizes is a 12.7 mm grid with a material thickness of 1.05 mm or a mesh size of 19 mm grid with a material thickness of 1.45 mm. The size of the animal is ultimately decisive. For small animals such as rodents or birds, a mesh size of 12.7 x 12.7 mm is often used, while for larger birds or other animals, a mesh size of 19 x 19 mm is a good alternative. Of course, other mesh sizes are also possible. Overall, animal enclosures made of aviary wire are a great way to house birds, rodents, cats, and other animals. However, a high-quality, sturdy, and durable construction is essential to ensure a safe and stable home for the animals.
Please also note: The larger and stronger the aviary resident is, the stronger the wire should be. Parakeets and parrots have an enormous play drive. The potentially intensive engagement with the wire resulting from this can lead to an unfortunate situation.
