Important Notes on Tolerances for Profiles and Connectors
In certain applications, there are situations where dimensional accuracy plays a significantly larger role than in other cases, due to the fact that, for example, when installing telescopic slides. If connector tolerances are also included, our recommendation for industrial precision applications is to use more suitable and more expensive systems. With connector heads, it is also the case that for many customers, for aesthetic reasons, it is more important to cover the complete cut edge of the profile, so that the visible connector cube is at least not smaller than the profile's outer dimensions.
Note Profile Tolerances
Generally, in technical designs, it must be considered that even the (permissible) profile tolerances can already lead to deviations within the system.
Manufacturing-related Tolerances for Profiles
The tolerances for the external dimensions of our profiles are factory-defined as follows:
- Profiles 20x20 mm anodized: 20 - 0.07/+0.37 mm
- Profiles 25x25 mm anodized: 25.2 + 0.07/+0.37 mm
- Profiles 30x30 mm anodized: 30 + 0.07/+0.32 mm
If you buy bare aluminum profile the dimensions are again slightly different, as material is stripped during anodizing. However, these deviations from the anodized dimensions are not very large, so they would not be relevant for standard applications. For example, bare 25x25 mm profiles have dimensions of 25.2 - 0/+ 0.3 mm.
Tolerance Dimensions for Cut Lengths
- Length +/- 0.5mm for cut lengths
Note on Connector Tolerances
Our production standards for XD Tube Connectors made of polyamide comply with a factory standard based on DIN 16742, which we use as a basis for the production of our plastic parts.
Tolerances for Plastic Injection Molded Parts from In-House Production
Deviations from the nominal dimension are unavoidable in the production of plastic molded parts. The production-related dimensional deviations have several causes:
b) Condition of the mold
Considering these aspects and numerous practical measurement results, the tolerances in this factory standard are defined:
a) Processing variation – depends on
- the uniformity of the molding compound
- the machine settings
- the mold temperature
- deformation of the mold under pressure
- Manufacturing tolerances for mold dimensions (see DIN 16749)
- Mold wear
- Positional deviations of movable mold parts
1) Non-tool-bound dimensions are dimensions that are formed by the interaction of movable tool elements, e.g., wall thickness and bottom thickness dimensions or dimensions that are influenced by inserts or sliders.
2) Tool-bound dimensions are dimensions within the same tool part. The tolerances are applicable only to the respective molded part with the specified standard material due to the processing shrinkage incorporated into the tool. Deviations from the above-mentioned tolerances must be clarified individually between our customers and us and are documented in our offers/drawings and other production documents.
